Jacket Lines

Conductors or conductor composites that have already been insulated are provided with an additional layer of insulation on our high-performance sheathing lines. The layer(s) can be extruded with an extruder as well as in tandem operation (see tandem lines).
Depending on your production requirements, we can supply a wide range of line configurations for the assembly and configuration of the line. This includes a basic version with a single sequence, the extrusion equipment, a cooling section and a rewinder or an installation with complex cable accumulators and double sequences as well as fully automatic double rewinders for a continuous production process.  


Jacket Lines

The extruder screws used in our sheathing lines allow the processing of a wide variety of materials. All product-relevant quality features of the high-quality cables can be adjusted precisely by varying the process parameters and by selecting the correct tool inserts.

These include the surface of the sheathed cable, which can be manufactured in high-gloss, glossy, silk-mat and mat as well as the sheathed adhesive seal with low, medium and high adhesive seal values. Pre-talk cumulation of the stranding bundle or of the individual cores during the preceding production steps is not a mandatory requirement. The diameters are maintained with great precision by our diameter control. The diameter consistency is so excellent that the nominal manufacturing diameter of the cables can be reduced many times over. This results in additional material and cost savings. The diameter of the outer sheath is maintained precisely at the screw speed of the extruder via a combined hot/cold diameter control. The production speed is always kept constant. Due to the small variation in the outer diameter, consistently high Cpk values for outer diameter and ovality are achieved.

TANDEM LINES

SIEBE tandem extrusion lines enable the flexible sheathing of ABS and sensor cables in one operation. The system is designed for continuous operation. A high increase in productivity can be achieved compared to the conventional processes used up to now.

The standard version of the tandem extrusion line is designed for stranding bundles of 2 x 0.35 to 5 x 2.5 mm2 and outside diameters of 4 to 12 mm. The maximum line speed is 300 m/min. Our extruders HSP 85-27 for the inner layer and HSP 105-27 for the outer layer are used. The use of extruder screws allows the processing of a wide variety of materials, and all product-relevant quality characteristics of the high-quality cables can be adjusted precisely by varying the process parameters and selecting the correct die inserts.

The diameter of the inner sheath is constantly maintained at the screw speed of the first extruder via a hot diameter control. The diameter of the outer sheath is maintained precisely at the screw speed of the extruder via a combined hot/cold diameter control. The production speed is always kept constant. Due to the small variation in the outer diameter, consistently high Cpk values for outer diameter and ovality are achieved. The specially designed rewinder provides excellent traversing and winds in such a way that the cable can be unwound easily and error-free again.

MULTI-LAYER LINES

The SIEBE GmbH multi-layer lines represent a further variant of the sheathing line and can extrude more than just one layer. Our systems are normally capable of producing up to three layers. The layers can be extruded with one tool or in tandem operation, for example to apply shielding in an intermediate step. Both single wires and stranded conductors can be used as input material. 


STEEL WIRE SHEATHING

This special type of core assembly was designed for sheathing steel wires and tubes. The focus of this application is less on the insulation of an electrical conductor but more on the protection of the metal against corrosion or the optical upgrading of the base material. Examples of applications are e.g. wires for fences, paper clips, composite tubes for the sanitary industry or metal parts sewn into textiles.
